Anstruther Fish Bar & Pottery Whale - Framed Beach Collage (No. 1292)

Anstruther Fish Bar & Pottery Whale - Framed Beach Collage (No. 1292)

Framed beach collage created using antique beach pottery, stones and pebbles found washed-up on the beautiful beaches of the East Neuk of Fife, Scotland.

This whimsical seaside scene features the famous Anstruther Fish Bar, hand-painted onto sea pottery found on Anstruther beach. The fish bar sits on a driftwood harbour wall. A tiny blue whale made from antique blue sea pottery is swimming in the harbour and rocks in the foregound are made from up-cycled cardboard packaging used by Anstruther fish bar for it's award-winning fish and chips! Wire wrapping has been used to make water spouts for the whale, a little silver fish and a seagull hovering in the sky waiting for some chips to be dropped!

The piece comes in a wooden box frame and measures 18cm square. Please choose your frame colour (either white wood or rustic washed wood) using the drop down menu. (Item:1292)

These fragments of patterned pottery and china gather between the rocks and pebbles at low tide. Many of these pieces originate from the 1800’s and 1900’s, sometimes dating back to the Victorian and Regency eras when the nearby town of Kirkcaldy was at the heart of the Scottish pottery industry. Despite being tumbled and smoothed by the Scottish waves for so long, the patterns and colours remain wonderfully vibrant and the transformative power of the sea ensures each fragment is entirely unique.
