A handmade pebble art beach collage with a blue tit and washing line, all created from antique beach pottery, driftwood, slate, stones and pebbles found washed-up on the beautiful beaches of the East Neuk of Fife, Scotland. The pottery I use is often 19th Century antique beach china - mostly Victorian.

This whimsical seaside scene features a sweet little blue tit painted onto a piece of beach pottery using metallic blues, greens and a bright yellow breast! The blue tit is perched on a washing line made from driftwood pieces and silver wire. Three pieces of delicately patterned antique transfer-ware pottery hang on the line. Silver plated wire has been used to make the feet and beak for the blue tit, the washing line and a tiny seagull in the sky!

The piece comes in a wooden box frame and measures 18cm square. Please choose your frame colour (either white wood or rustic washed wood) using the drop down menu. (Item: 1856)

These fragments of patterned pottery and china gather between the rocks and pebbles at low tide. Many of these pieces originate from the 1800’s and 1900’s, sometimes dating back to the Victorian and Regency eras when the nearby town of Kirkcaldy was at the heart of the Scottish pottery industry. Despite being tumbled and smoothed by the Scottish waves for so long, the patterns and colours remain wonderfully vibrant and the transformative power of the sea ensures each fragment is entirely unique.
