This piece is definitely a one-off! This beautiful pendant necklace, made from bright cobalt blue tumbled sea glass, has an embossed 'T' in the centre of the glass! It would be a perfect gift for anyone with a T name! This is very likely to have come from an antique poison bottle which used to be imprinted with the words 'not to be taken' (see additional photo!)

The necklace has been wrapped in wire and measures approximately 3cm high. It comes complete with a silver-plated 16" snake chain and gift box. (Item: 1967)

The seaglass has been reshaped and smoothed over decades of tumbling in the Scottish waves! Blue glass is rare, particularly at this size. It was commonly used in medicine (or poison!) bottles, which were traditionally made from thinner glass than beer or wine bottles. Therefore is tended to break into smaller fragments in the sea so large pieces like this are hard to find!

The sea glass washes up on the beautiful beaches in Anstruther in the East Neuk of Fife in Scotland. Much of it dates back to the Victorian era and is known as 'mermaid tears'. When sailors were lost at sea, the mermaids would cry and their tears would wash up on the shore.
