Highland Cow & Forth Rail Bridge - Hand-Painted Framed Beach Collage (No. 1299)

Highland Cow & Forth Rail Bridge - Hand-Painted Framed Beach Collage (No. 1299)

£45.00

A framed beach collage created using antique beach pottery, shells, stones and pebbles found washed-up on the beautiful beaches of the East Neuk of Fife, Scotland.

This whimsical Fife scene features a shaggy highland cow with the iconic Forth Rail Bridge in the background. Both have been hand-painted in metallic paint onto white antique beach pottery. Green antique sea pottery forms Edinburgh mountains on the horizon. A stunning piece of pink & white floral patterned beach pottery sits in the foreground along with another piece featuring a green flower! Wire has been used to create horns and legs for the cow, a seagull hovering over the railway bridge and a tiny silver little fish in the Forth river.

The piece comes in a wooden box frame and measures 18cm square. Please choose your frame colour (either white wood or rustic washed wood) using the drop down menu. (Item:1299)

These fragments of patterned pottery and china gather between the rocks and pebbles at low tide. Many of these pieces originate from the 1800’s and 1900’s, sometimes dating back to the Victorian and Regency eras when the nearby town of Kirkcaldy was at the heart of the Scottish pottery industry. Despite being tumbled and smoothed by the Scottish waves for so long, the patterns and colours remain wonderfully vibrant and the transformative power of the sea ensures each fragment is entirely unique.
