Cornflower Blue Scottish Sea Glass Pendant Necklace - Celtic Swirl (No. 1270)
A beautiful pendant necklace made from pale blue shade of Scottish sea glass known as 'cornflower'. The glass has been reshaped and smoothed over decades of tumbling in the Scottish waves! Blue glass in particular is rare, particularly at this size. It was commonly used in medicine (or poison!) bottles, which were traditionally made from thinner glass than beer or wine bottles. Therefore is tended to break into smaller fragments in the sea so large pieces like this are hard to find!
The necklace has been wrapped in wire and finished with a tiny celtic swirl. This pendant measures approximately 4cm high. It comes complete with a silver-plated 18" snake chain and gift box. (Item:1270)
All the sea glass, pottery and shells used to make the necklaces are sourced from the beautiful beaches of the East Neuk of Fife in Scotland. The glass and pottery have been gently worn smooth by the rough Scottish seas and can often date back over 100 years!
