A pair of sea glass stud earrings, handmade using tiny fragments of cornflower blue Scottish seaglass. The posts and butterfly backs are sterling silver. The studs measure approximately 8mm x 5mm. Each pair comes complete with a gift box. Blue glass in particular is rare. It was commonly used in medicine or poison bottles! (Item: 2060)

(Please don't wear the earrings in the shower or bath as the heat/water/steam may weaken the glue.)

All my jewellery is handmade in Scotland from naturally sea-worn materials. I love to gather these treasures while beach-combing on the beautiful beaches in Anstruther in the East Neuk of Fife as well as the surrounding beaches of St Andrews, Pittenweem, Crail & St Monans. Much of the sea glass dates back to the Victorian era and is known as 'mermaid tears'. When sailors were lost at sea, the mermaids would cry and their tears would wash up on the shore.
