Seagull & Pottery Whale - Beach Driftwood & Pebble Art Picture (No. 1394)

Framed beach collage created using antique beach pottery, stones and pebbles found washed-up on the beautiful beaches of the East Neuk of Fife, Scotland.

This whimsical seaside scene features a pottery seagull, it's wings made from beautifully vibrant blue & white antique beach pottery
.  A tiny whale, also made from beach pottery, swims alongside. A lovely piece of swirly embossed green pottery forms the Bass Rock on the horizon. The seagulls sits on a piece of textured driftwood and a piece of green stoneware sits in the foreground. Wire wrapping has been used to make the seagull's feet and beak, a seagull in the sky and water spouts for the whale.

The piece comes in a wooden box frame and measures 18cm square. Please choose your frame colour (either white wood or rustic washed wood) using the drop down menu. (Item: 1394

These fragments of patterned pottery and china gather between the rocks and pebbles at low tide. Many of these pieces originate from the 1800’s and 1900’s, sometimes dating back to the Victorian and Regency eras when the nearby town of Kirkcaldy was at the heart of the Scottish pottery industry. Despite being tumbled and smoothed by the Scottish waves for so long, the patterns and colours remain wonderfully vibrant and the transformative power of the sea ensures each fragment is entirely unique.
