A handmade pebble art beach collage featuring a pebble seagull and a blue whale, all handmade using antique beach pottery, driftwood, stones and pebbles found washed-up on the beautiful beaches of the East Neuk of Fife, Scotland. The pottery I use is often 19th Century antique beach china - mostly Victorian.

This whimsical seaside scene features a little seagull made from plain sea pottery, it's wings made from a tiny fragment of pottery featuring the famous Willow pattern. Alongside the seagull, a little blue whale is swimming in the waves. The whale has been created using plain cobalt blue sea china. A lovely piece of textured pottery forms the waves in the foreground. I'm guessing this must have been the bottom of a bowl or jar. The seagull is perched on a lovely piece of driftwood. A glorious piece of green and cream transferware pottery forms Berwick Law on the horizon! Silver plated wire has been used to make the feet and beak for the seagull, water spouts for the whale and a fish in the sea.

The piece comes in a wooden box frame and measures 18cm square. Please choose your frame colour (either white wood or rustic washed wood) using the drop down menu. (Item: 1863

These fragments of patterned pottery and china gather between the rocks and pebbles at low tide. Many of these pieces originate from the 1800’s and 1900’s, sometimes dating back to the Victorian and Regency eras when the nearby town of Kirkcaldy was at the heart of the Scottish pottery industry. Despite being tumbled and smoothed by the Scottish waves for so long, the patterns and colours remain wonderfully vibrant and the transformative power of the sea ensures each fragment is entirely unique.
