Frame Colour

A handmade pebble art framed beach collage with a pair of seagulls and tiny sailing boat, all created from antique sea pottery, driftwood, stones and pebbles found washed-up on the beautiful beaches of the East Neuk of Fife, Scotland. The pottery I use is often 19th Century antique beach china - mostly Victorian.

This whimsical seaside scene features two little seagulls perched on a driftwood branch. Their wings are made from fragments of antique sea china. A little yacht sails beneath them - it's sails made from pottery featuring the famous willow pattern. Another piece of lovely cobalt blue china forms waves in the foreground. Silver plated wire has been used to make the feet and beaks for the seagulls, the mast for the boat and a tiny silver fish in the sea!

The piece comes in a wooden box frame and measures 18cm square. Please choose your frame colour (either white wood or rustic washed wood). (Item: 2253)

These fragments of patterned pottery and china gather between the rocks and pebbles at low tide. Many of these pieces originate from the 1800’s and 1900’s, sometimes dating back to the Victorian and Regency eras when the nearby town of Kirkcaldy was at the heart of the Scottish pottery industry. Despite being tumbled and smoothed by the Scottish waves for so long, the patterns and colours remain wonderfully vibrant and the transformative power of the sea ensures each fragment is entirely unique.
